Run vlc in verbose mode (vlc -v2) in a maximized terminal, reproduce,
copy->paste the output into a text file and attach to this report.
Inactivate Compiz if it is active, then try again.

Yup, my ibex setup is up-2-date and I can see video until I try to
resize or fast forward. After that everything goes blank. I've been
using totem to watch videos so this isn't really a loss for me but
there is a sound issue in totem (recent to ibex) on certain codecs.
