My bug seems to be fixed with the latest updates on KDE.

I'm not sure that the crash happens when there are are some windows open. I
tried and it is not so for me.
I tried with an other user, and same issue.
I solved this problem with purge kubuntu-default-settings
If reinstall this package the issue returns

One trick:
The crash happens when I try to restart or shutdown the system with firefox and
thunderbird open.
No problem when I close all windows.

Checked KDE bugs.
The crash happenes when there are open windows like thunderbird firefox and try
to shutdown or restart kubuntu.
When I close all windows crash does not happen.
