Got the same problem. Let me mention that the open source xorg radeon driver does not let me resume from the suspend at all (besides other uglier boot issues, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/305301 ). I used to use that one in 8.04, the resume was
