Public bug reported:

(this may be an Xorg bug, not sure).

I use multiple desktops, and whenever I run adept-updater on a different
desktop than my currently active one, my computer will completely freeze
once adept is finished. The screen goes black (so i'm assuming Xorg is
crashing), and I am unable to SSH to, or even ping, my machine from
another machine. I am forced to perform a hard reboot.

Once the box is back up, adept will still see the packages as not
updated, but will then complete without any problems.

If I leave adept on my active desktop, then I do not have any problems.

I'm running Kubuntu 8.04, with the KDE4 packages, on x86_64.

My colleague has the same setup, with slightly different hardware, and
he is seeing exactly the same behaviour.

All I've been able to find in the logs is the following in 'syslog',
just before the reboot:

----8<----

and the following in the Xorg.0.log:

Let me know if there is anything I can do to grab more info.

Thanks!
