I've made some tests on Intrepid.
The problems begins when /etc/init.d/bluetooth in started or restarted.
I'm using a minimal /etc/X11/xorg.conf file, with no specification for the
input.
If I remove the Logitech bluetooth dongle, pair the keyboard and the mouse to
another working dongle (the
I confirm: at today 9.04 Alpha4 have the same bug.

Logitech MX5500 keyboard/mouse does not work
I've the same problem. Actually I unplug and replug the Logitech receiver at
every boot.
I've another BT receiver plugged-in, but, if it's possible, I prefer use the
Logitech receiver.
I suppose that it's a bug related to HAL and X.org 7.4 or evdev modules,
because on previous releases all
Same here with Logitech BT dongle and MX5500.

If you have no other BT devices, the quickest solution to a working
keyboard and mouse is to remove bluez and bluetooth 4.12-0ubuntu5
altogether and reseat your USB dongle. The keyboard and mouse will be
detected as USB HIDs.
From a terminal just -
sudo apt-get remove bluez bluetooth

I solved this by doing the following:
I installed the legacy binaries for hidd (look for hidd in synaptic), removed
both devices from gnome bluetooth applet, connected them both with hidd
--connect btaddr, synced them again to gnome bluetooth and restarted. Now it
works on every reconnect. But
I'm having the same problem, I just upgraded to ubuntu Intrepid and my mx5500
has to reconnect on every reboot. I'm on a Thinkpad T61p (bluetooth onboard)
is there any way we could solve this manually, with some init script or
something?

Logitech MX5500 keyboard/mouse does not work with
This error is occuring for me as well. You can make the keyboard and
mouse work in the installer by simply unplugging/replugging the dongle.
However I have to reset the dongle at least once per reboot to make it
work again.
Please fix :)

Same here. I upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid and my btnx broke. I read
from the main btnx site that they are stoping all development of btnx
and that it wont work in Xorg 7.5. Please do something about it, cause
it's really pulling me back

I upgraded from hardy to intrepid on i686 and found my self without a working
keyboardmouse.
Luckly ubuntu is not my primary distro on the system :)
I think this bug is quite critical, it's really annoying to upgrade and not be
able to use the kbd or mouse.

Logitech MX5500 keyboard/mouse
I have confirmed that resetting the Logitech Bluetooth USB receiver
after the OS is booted (either from CD or post install) does correct the
keyboard/mouse issue until next reboot. This leads me to believe this is
really the same as bug #289764.
I have also confirmed the 8.10 Desktop alternate
