Ubuntu 8.10 is no longer supported. It would help if you could test if this still occurs on Ubuntu 8.10 to Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS dist-upgrade. Please provide the output of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrintingBugInfoScript in 8.10, do the dist-upgrade then run the following command in 10.04.1 LTS on a t

I have seen the same effect, but my real printers are remain there, the PDF printer is gone. I have to reinstall with "sudo apt-get install cups-pdf" It happened on three separates computers. They all lost PDF CUPS printer after upgrade. -- after upgrade from 8.04 to 8.10 all printers that were
