Was able to boot LiveDVD w/ Intrepid 8.10 (didn't try jaunty but assume
the same) - with adding all_generic_ide to the end of the kernel boot
line.. This is not a solution, but allowed me to boot the CD. I will
not be installing a workstation with this feature since it would degrade
harddrive perf
bad news - Both the custom liveDVD I rolled with Intrepid 64bit Kernel
version 2.6.27-11 and the latest Alpha3 of Jaunty 64bit did not work.
Both came up with same error.
ata3: SRST failed (errno=-16)
I used the Jaunty Desktop 64bit LiveCD and received the same error. So

I'm using 64bit version - I'm still back on Hardy but just got done
making a custom LiveDVD using intrepid 64bit, kernel version is
2.6.27-11. I'm going to attempt to boot from the disk to see if the
issue is still there. Will post my results w/ kernel versions, etc.

this leads me to assume that the issue will not appear in jaunty live
cds. can someone test this?

Wido, in your initial bug description you said that archlinux did not work for
you.
Which kernel version are you running now?
Also, d2globalinc and oliver, if you upgrade to the latest kernel
version, can you then enable/connect the sata dvdr and boot?
