Public bug reported: I have a usb hub built into my monitor, and my usb keyboard is plugged into it, and my mouse's transceiver is plugged into that.
When I leave work, I usually shut down my computer and switch everything off, but sometimes I have something running that I want to keep running overnight, so I can't log out. In this case, I just switch the monitor(s) off. When I come back to work in the morning, I switch my monitor back on, but find that my keyboard and mouse don't work. To fix this, I have to log into a console using the keyboard on my laptop (that's the computer this is all connected to), and do a 'lsusb' - then everything comes alive again. It would be good if somehow this could be done automatically. I notice from syslog that the system notices that I've switched the hub off (usb disconnect is the last message in syslog from the previous night) but doesn't notice when the hub has been switched on again.
