Everything is confirmed for version 0.61.2ubuntu10 (the one I am running on Intrepid): 1. There seems to be no default column sorting. 2. There seems to be no setting for such a thing. 3. The sorting gets lost only when some text is in the Quick search field. -- user sort criteria lost when

It is as if the default sort order (A-Z by Package Name) only applies when not searching and searching uses it's own sorting order. I suspect that the search module is not sending the search results through any sorting routines and is instead returning things in the order in which they are found.

This problem is more complex than my steps to reproduce above -- it is triggered only when there's text in the quick search box. I apologize for the erroneous report. Please try this: - launch Synaptic - enter c-cran in Quick search - sort by Supported - select treeviewx - sort criteria are lost
