I have a similar problem. My Plextor PX-TV402U video capture device no longer
works in Intrepid. I do think I have rebuilt the drivers properly, but video
devices are no longer appearing under /dev as expected in Intrepid. MythTV and
TVtime are expecting to find this device under

I was able to get it to work.
After you plug the webcam, you need to unmount the desktop camera icon, then
unload the stv680 module and then reload it. My guess is there's some kind of
conflict between the pictures mode and the webcam mode but I'm no expert.

The workaround suggested above works for me. But now I get the red and blue
channels interchanged.
I am not sure if this has something to do with the module or not.

Sorry, the BGR/RGB color problem seems to be famous. It was fixed through a
module parameter:
modprobe stv680 swapRGB_on=-1
Now, I hope the main module loading problem gets fixed soon.
