comment #5 is probably closer related to bug #3858. Reinstallation & NOT specifying JACK now allows me to execute denemo. Under karmic (9.10) & denemo 0.8.6 : The behavior is now such that 1) selecting Csound preferences causes crash (reported as a different bug) I use ALSA, not CSound, but
