Can't reproduce with GPL Ghostscript 8.64 (Ubuntu 9.04), no problem with
20071011150023.pdf and no problem with deso07.pdf.

I am very surprised you cannot reproduce ... did you try to see all pages? My
9.04 crashes on both PDFs, the first one on page 2 and the other on page 8.

Just for information, I get the same error on both PDFs on OpenSolaris
(200906) (GPL Ghostscript 8.63), which is hardly surprising (and not
that relevant for Ubuntu :-)

With the current Ghostscript, version 8.70, I do not get segmentation
faults, but both example files give errors on the pages mentioned by
Jouko Holopainen in comment #9.

I have very similar problem too. I am using Ubuntu 8.10 with the latest
updates (update to 20/02/2009).
