Public bug reported: lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10
Since upgrading my local machine from hardy to intrepid, I am no longer able to interact with any X11-based software from certain remote hosts. The applications will launch fine, but if a widget that can accept any keyboard input has focus and a key is pressed, the app will immediately crash with: X Error of failed request: BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation) Major opcode of failed request: 151 (XKEYBOARD) Minor opcode of failed request: 16 (XkbSetNamedIndicator) Serial number of failed request: 5096 Current serial number in output stream: 5188 The apps in questions are being launched from older Sun Solaris machines: SunOS 5.9 Generic_118558-39 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V440 All X apps fail the exact same way. This includes xterm, nedit, etc. These same tools on the same remote hosts still work fine with the X server on another hardy machine that I have. I have tested launching similar tools from other types of hosts, such as Ubuntu dapper and hardy, Debian etch, Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS release 3, etc. They all work fine with the intrepid X server. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- X Error: BadAlloc (XKEYBOARD:XkbSetNamedIndicator) on certain remote X clients https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294729 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
