After change

Was it a fresh install or an upgrade via the update manager ?
Anyhow, I had the same problem and it was that upgrading had set the PCM
volume to 0
ALSO, the alsamixer had changed in the upgrade, so the simple
"alsamixer" command did NOT show the PCM volume.
The new alsamixer had to be run like t
Ran command alsamixer -Dhw, all levels showed 100 except 2 called
"Realtek" that didn't have a slider bar like the rest.
