Hi. Actually, I learned just a couple of days ago, while testing the
same issue with ocrad (Bug #295542), that the cause was TeXLive 2007 and
TeXLive 2008 version of install-info which is in conflict with system's
version of install-info, so solving bug #295542 automatically solves
this one too.
in order to investigate this issue further we would at least need a full
terminal output of the error.
Since this report is rather old and you didn't report back since then, I
suspect that you've already upgraded to a later version where this issue
