Public bug reported: I recently installed a new version of UBUNTU, 8.10, downloading using system update tools. and obtained, for example, "RELEASE NOTES 8.10 Intrepid Ibex"
I RETAINED the old boot-menu, and I always "boot" with an old booting-pathway, title Ubuntu 8.04.1, kernel 2.6.22-14-generic root (hd0,2) kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.22-14-generic root=UUID=408cb491-addf-48cc-a2ae-85b70af64995 ro quiet splash initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.22-14-generic quiet (or so I believe). (WHY? There was some bug that slowed or prevented booting on ALL the booting pathways and I only fixed this one.) When the system is running (doing email via evolution, or web via firefox) the system occasionally CRASHES when I click the mouse. By "CRASH" I mean that I lose my work (or at least my place) and must AGAIN type my name and password. THE RE-LOGIN is VERY FAST in this case. [On the other hand, I use OpenOffice WordProcessor quite a bit and cannot remember ever crashing.] ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ubuntu 8.10 crashes on random mouse-click (booting from 2.6.22-14-generic) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/295290 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
