Hi,
as I wrote, there was no more problem, since I used Kernel 2.6.27-11 even if I
enabled HPET (High Precision Event Timer) in BIOS.
Now I switched to 9.04, where all is fine, too, and I'm not able to give more
informations on this bug.

Hi Knut,
It seems Dyqik knows where is the kernel message from. Could you test
with what he said? or have a test with lastest released Ubuntu 9.04
If possible, please tell us the result.

I've managed to fix this on a Lenovo M58 desktop (Model 7373-AB3, which
doesn't have a BIOS setting for HPET) by setting hpet=disable as a
kernel option in /boot/grub/menu.lst . This should provide a
workaround for those without a HPET BIOS option.

After installation of Kernel 2.6.27-11 from the proposed repository the
bug seems to be fixed. Thanks to all, who made this possible.

ok the bios option is great if it is there but I have several hp dc7900s
and they don't seem to have a bios option to turn off hpet. any other

Same situation here: Mainboard Intel DQ45CB (quad core); kernel
2.6.27-9-generic.
I disabled HPET and can now confirm that logs are clean (no flooding).
Hopefully the new -10 kernel will fix it!

Great. I disabled HPET (High Precision Event Timer) in BIOS, restarted
the klogs and sysklogd services in the Services Administration Tool, and
uncommented the lines in the syslog.conf (Comment #6): No logs were
flooded and no processes were consuming the whole CPU-Power.

I can confirm this problem. Running 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20
22:15:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux on an Intel DQ45CB (Intel Q45).
Disabling HPET in the BIOS fixes the problem, but it would be good if it
worked with HPET enabled too. ;)

I'm now running Kernel Linx 2.6.27-10.
If I re-enable klogd and sysklogd in the Services Administration Tool, the
processes return and consum the whole CPU-1-power.

I dont't think, that this bug is a duplicate, too. As a workaround to
