This bug was reported against an earlier version of Ubuntu, can you
test if it still occurs on Lucid?
Please note we also provide technical support for older versions of
Ubuntu, but not in the bug tracker. Instead, to raise the issue
installed Lucid and sis driver is working on first install! Yellow
Cast problem is no longer an issue. Problem has been fixed in this
release.

This bug affects Lucid Lynx beta. Fix I posted on 2009-07-14 still applies.
Adding the sisfb module to modules file fixes issue.
So when a clean install happens the sis vga card is not being detected on the
aspire 5000 screen is not configure properly.

After some web searching and with the help of:
sudo lspci -v
It looks like sisfb (a required module for my graphics card) is not
being
Installed Ubuntu 9.04 and got the same issue. Screen cast problem. I

Thank you Daishi for the update.
Magnus version 8.04 works fine no driver problems with this version.
This screen problem is also on linux mint latest build.
I will stick with 8.04 until their is a resolution thanks

I too own an Aspire 5003 and am experiencing the same problem; it appears to
get worse over time. Anyway a temporary fix is to change the Device section of
xorg.conf as so:

reinstalling ubuntu. (this is before a dist-upgrade and update in apt)

that it is the monitor only. This issue doe not show up with a dual
boot with windows xp. I will try 32 bit version
