I think the crashes are gone. I changed my xorg.conf settings and experienced no more crashes. Here is my device section (one of the commented lines must have caused the problem): Section "Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "nvidia" VendorName "NVIDIA Corporation"

if i try to switch of compositing it seems to be more stable while working. But if i try to log in again (for example on the next day) i even cannot log into KDE again! I have to enable compositing again (or delete the kwinrc file) to be able to log into KDE again. -- [intrepid] X Server crashes
