I just ran the install on Jaunty (all current updates as of posting),
and also got:
Setting up libsensors4 (1:3.0.2-2ubuntu2) ...
udev active, devices will be created in /dev/.static/dev/
rm: cannot remove `i
I'm confirming that running the following commands did succeed without
errors or warnings:
$ sudo /etc/init.d/udev stop && sudo /etc/init.d/udev start
$ sudo aptitude reinstall libsensors4
I had already previously also run
sudo sensors-detect
and loaded required modules (appended to /etc/module

273601). Can you try upgrading to the latest Intrepid kernel to see if that
resolves the issue?

Jason, this issue has not been resolved in intrepid's -8 kernel.
/dev/.static/ is still mounted as read-only bind mount. This will be
fixed in jaunty's udev eventually.
