Sorry no one was able to help. After reading through the report and
comments I have a few ideas for possibly getting better answers in the
future. Keep in mind that these ideas are solely mine and are presented

I am unable to understand what actually has happened to cause this. Are you
saying you installed something in Add/Remove programs and now your system locks
up? What was it you installed?
Also recovery mode there is there for just that - recovery - have you tried the
dpkg or the xfix options?
