Public bug reported:

The Belkin Wireless Desktop Network Card F5D6001 v1 fails to configure
properly in Ubuntu Server 8.10. Default configuration shows the hostap
and hostap_pci kernel modules loaded, leading to the devices wlan0 and
wifi0 being listed in iwconfig, but neither showing up in ifconfig.
Doing an ifconfig wlan0 has no effect, and ifconfig wifi0 causes both to
be listed in ifconfig, but the network connection remains nonfunctional.

Blacklisting hostap, hostap_cs, and hostap_pci causes the card to work
correctly under the device name eth1 (a 3Com ethernet adapter is located
at eth0).

Linux 2.6.27-7-server
