Does anybody have a copy or a link to its current location?

I followed the previous topic and it works my Vaio SR19VN.
I used fingerprintGUI 0.9.
The Ventor/model is not recognized due to integration of 147e:1000 in libfprint
library, but still it works!

@Pawell: That doesn't seem to work for me. Are you using the ubuntu
packages, or rebuilding from source?

I tried the way Pawell said, and you can actually scann your fingers but
the GUI has to be launched as root (I don't know how to change the
permission for users for the fingerprint reader). And I don't know how

Ubuntu 8.10, maybe

You need to edit the /etc/udev/rules.d/50-libfprint0.rules and add the missing
rule for the device
ATTRS{idVendor}==147e, ATTRS{idProduct}==1000, MODE=0664, GROUP=plugdev
and restarting /etc/init.d/udev restart
I have the same experience. Mine is Asus N10Jc
