Public bug reported:

After I did upgrade from ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10, CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor 
Applet (gnome-cpufreq-applet) show a blank field at startup. If I logout gnome 
session and login again, it works correctly.
I have got a Lenovo Thinkpad Z60.
