This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in
it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try
with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are
available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic .

I am trying to install Ubuntu Intrepid on a HP 2530p laptop. When the
Alternate CD boots, it halts with a message about a soft lockup. This
machine is a new machine, upon which I've installed WinXP.
Steps to reproduce:
