Hi René, the easiest way to fix this issue under hardy would be to package kicad 20080825c-final. But even in LTS versions there will be no updates for packages like kicad, they are not important enough. I am sorry but I cant explain this better since I am not so experienced... But for yourself

Thanks you very much for the quick responds, but Iam not feeling completely comfortable with the answer... Why is this bugreport invalid? I don't ask for a package update to a new version, but just for a fix. Hardy is a LTS version so people will use is for maybe two years or longer. So, installing

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. ubuntu 8.10 "jaunty jackalope" will be shipped with kicad 20080825c-final. Older ubuntu-releases wont get newer versions of this package. Please reopen this bug if the issue still exists with jaunty, thank you! M
