Binary package hint: gringotts

Opening or saving to network share is not possible from Gringotts. Could
someone please explain to me why opening/saving is not the same in every
application in Gnome? Because this is not the first time I have seen
applications without network shares being visible in the save/open
dialog screen. Isn't it like calling an object like save file and thus
being the same everywhere? Or is this a too simple view of how stuff
works inside Gnome?
