To what IM network do you try to connect? MSN or ICQ or XMMP...?
And could you try to provide some logs of pidgin, while it tries to connect? In
order to do that open Help -> Debug window and then try to connect.

In my case, I went to log on to Pidgin as usual. I enter my password,
and the program usually takes me to my friends list. As of right now, it
is sitting in the limbo that usually takes less than five seconds
between when I sign on, and when I'm actually IN my messenger. I've now
