Unfortunately, I don't have that monitor available any longer, but I tried removing and reinserting the USB dongle, and also suspending and resuming the laptop. In either case, the Caps Lock continued acting as a Compose key, so it is possible that this bug has been fixed. -- Keyboard layout opti

Confirming in both Hardy and Intrepid. What's weird is that I've found a workaround that doesn't make any sense: go into preferences->keyboard->layouts->layout options, go to compose key, and then uncheck and recheck the box. That will make it work again for some reason. So, really, it seems like
