Not a problem.. As you indicated it was third party software (as in not
supported directly by Ubuntu) that was responsible for the addition to
sources.list I am closing this issue... If I am incorrect and the
software package that you were using is part of Ubuntu please respond to

At some stage I WAS endeavouring to install OpenOffice 3.0, alas
without success. Having checked various postings, I realise I'd best
wait until it
becomes available via Ubuntu instead of Third Party.

Okay: sources list supplied. But you'll also be pleased - and perhaps, like me,
mystified, that I'm now able to access Package Manager. Didn't do ANYTHING
other than swap emails with you, but when I tried again ... it worked. Curious
and curiouser, non?
