Public bug reported: Under Ubuntu 8.04, brightness control on an asus n20a does not work. The asus-laptop module is loaded and /sys/class/backlight/asus-laptop/ exists with the following files:
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 4,0K 2008-12-06 01:39 actual_brightness -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4,0K 2008-12-06 01:39 bl_power -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4,0K 2008-12-06 01:39 brightness -r--r--r-- 1 root root 4,0K 2008-12-06 00:44 max_brightness drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 2008-12-06 01:39 power lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 2008-12-06 00:44 subsystem -> ../../../../class/backlight -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4,0K 2008-12-06 01:39 uevent I can echo numbers to brightness, but nothing happens. The gnome- brightness-applet has no effect, and neither does the xbacklight utility. However, under Fedora 10, brightness control works just fine. They use the same kernel version, so I fix should be there... Please, let me know if I can post additional information (as of now, I'm upgrading to Jaunty Jackalope to see if this and other issues are fixed there). ** Affects: acpi (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- on asus n20a, brightness control does not work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305643 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
