Public bug reported: Since upgrading to Intrepid, my keyboard mapping (function and multimedia keys) is wrong and cannot be fixed using System > Preference > Keyboard Shortcuts
The most annoying example is Fn+f6 which should lock the screen. When I press that, it mutes the sound and when I try to remap it in Keyboard Shortcuts, Fn+f6 is described as "XF86AudioMute", the same as the actual audio mute multimedia button above the keyboard. This is a problem because I do need to lock the screen when I leave my desk to conform with guidelines at work, suspend is buggy and wont wake up and if I sacrifice mute for lock then brushing the very sensitive mute button will lock my screen which is obviously unacceptable. Being a 1280x800 screen, I like to maximise the real estate available to apps so I don't have a readily available method of locking the screen. I really miss the shortcut key. Also the dvd and start media player button also don't work. These things all worked fine in Hardy. Sorry if this is the not yet a complete report. I believe this may be an X config issue, but I'm not entirely sure. Any info required to move this bug to the right package, please ask. uname -a Linux hector-luft 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 22:15:32 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- HP dv6000 function and multimedia keys unmappable in Intrepid Ibex https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305870 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
