unetbootin is packed with UPX, this is why it appears as a static
binary. Before trying ldd and objdump -x it should be first expanded
with ucl -d (from the package upx-ucl).
After some fighting with upx to make it compile with lzma, I found that there

I'm using unetbootin-eeeubuntu , I did not try it under intrepid , it
does work under hardy, it is a 32bit app so is googleearth which also
gives the error and it was working under intrepid , I upgraded my
intrepid install to jaunty so I do not have one to work with right now
Hardy is my stable

What kind of applications are these? 32-bit or 64-bit?Could this
be as simple as not installing the 32-bit version of this shared
library? What does ldd on an affected application return? The output
of objdump -x /usr/bin/ would also be useful.
Does it show up in Intrepid, or only in
Confirmed. Skype also produces the same error on 64bit.
