Same problem here, mtpfs crashes when the root directory contains a
file's or folder's name contain "@" or "&". Possibly will crash if any
special characters are used with file names.

I'm getting same results as for Gavin Hamill, mounting my Creative Zen
and accessing data it gives segfaults:
from dmesg:
