This has been fixed in PyKaraoke CVS today: unicode filename support was
broken by some user contributions. This will be rolled into a PyKaraoke
v0.7.3 release, but meanwhile is available from Sourceforge CVS while
testing takes place.

I have exactly the same problem, and I am using LinuxMint 8 Helena (I
believe this is based on Ubuntu Karmic) and PyKaraoke 0.7.0. I ran it
within a terminal and I got the following after clicking SCAN NOW :
Traceback (most recent call last):
File /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/pykaraoke.py, line
Please run pykaraoke within a terminal window and paste here the output.
Could you try to reproduce this bug on Karmic?
