Hello! At first i've started having segfaults when trying to sudo, then
i've restarted my machine and could not login at all. To solve this i've
entered recovery mode, opened the root prompt and used this command
apt-get purge -y samba samba-common samba-client libpam-smbpass apt-
get install -y
latest update of sudo, caused this issue to reappear.
thank for the solution

Thanks! I wouldn't search the error at samba but its not a problem
with samba, its only a problem with libpam-smbpass. After uninstalling
with 'apt-get purge libpam-smbpass' it worked.
sorry for bad english

sudo segmentation fault [ubuntu 8.10]
if you are purging samba, samba-common, samba-client and libpam-smbpass,
you can install it again, and it works:
boot into recovery mode and type
apt-get purge -y samba samba-common samba-client libpam-smbpass apt-get
install -y samba libpam-smbpass
now it should work again.

When asked what you wish to do, choose get Root shell or something like that.
Well, that should give your root rights, and then you can
Im still pretty now to this, but how did you purge samba without being
able to do a sudo command? I'm having the same trouble...
