Same issue in Jaunty beta.
Raising importance as this makes browsing impossible for most practical
uses involving Flash, specifically, any site with menus and embedded
news that start playing automatically, which quickly claim 100% usage.

Manually installing Flashblock from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-
US/firefox/addon/433 works as expected.

I see that upstream released a new version, I think about packaging it , feel
free to track and test the version in my ppa ..

Since the installation of the following flash version (due to a security
update from the vendor) flashblock has stopped working and has even
introduced some stability issues (or allowed some of adobe's flash
player's stability issues to leak through).
