What module is used for wireless when you boot into the vanilla kernel? I don't think the unavailability of snd-rtctimer should prevent Rosegarden from playing sound. At least it does not here. However see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rosegarden/+bug/278062 for discussion of the RTC
