I think I messed up this bug report, as I finally realized it is about several
possibly unrelated issues: I apologize.
Actually, the originally reported lockup events has ceased after
deactivating NetworkManager on boot and manually setting up the network
Since all the necessary log files are here, I'm setting the status to
confirmed.
There have been a number of fixes in the driver in the upcoming Jaunty
release. It would be very helpful if you could test if this is still a
problem in Jaunty. There is a recent alpha release at

I got the same kernel panic described as above. The kdm.log file reports
"(EE) intel(0): underrun on pipe B!":
Note that your system uses syslog. All of kdm's internally generated messages
(i.e., not from libraries an

Same problem here, with same laptop model.
After all icons in splash dialog are displayed, KDE startup suspends. Sometimes
mouse and keyboard do not respond completely, neither ctrl+alt+backspace nor
SysRq+b working.

Today I had a kernel panic!!
I brought my laptop to my office, where we have a ethernet LAN, while at home I
only have a wireless network.
I could successfully login, KDE started and all was fine on the desktop, until
I inserted the cable into the ethernet port.
