I updated to the latest openoffice in the PPA and same problem.
I installed gnumeric and it appears to open the .wb3 file good. Maybe
missing some font stuff, but otherwise the data in them are fine.
I saved the .wb3 as .ods using gnumeric, but it did not preserve any of the
formulas. Only the n

No, with the upstream openoffice.org it can not open the file but it
doesn't even attempt to do so it does not crash. When you try to open it
shows an unknown file type dialog that makes you tell it what it is,
essentially it is telling you it does not support the type of file you
are trying to ope
Are you saying that when you use upstream openoffice.org, and you open
openoffice.org wordprocessor, select Open, and expand the file type in
the lower left corner of the Open Dialogue window, that Quattro pro 7.0
and/or wb3 file extension is available as an option?
