I messed around quite a bit and this is how I fixed the problem:
1. I uninstalled all SCIM related software through Synaptic. Restart.
2. (This was probably the part that fixed it) I went through the folders and
erased all Korean/Japanese related folders and files (.anthy, .pinyin, and al
