gqview has been replaced with geeqie in lucid.
This bug is fixed in geeqie.

I found that changing this to 'gimp --no-splash %f' solved the problem.

This appears to be a problem with gimp-remote, if run from terminal the
error refers to gimp-remote, something which according to the changelog
of the gimp package in Jaunty has been fixed.
Clicking 'edit in xpaint' has no effect for me either, if run in
terminal the error indicates it can't find
