This is still a problem for me
Im now using Lucid 64bit with openoffice.org-writer 1:3.2.1-6ubuntu2~10.04.1
In Lucid 32bit this is not an issue.

Public bug reported:
If I open msword .doc files in openoffice writer that have images with
negative crop, the image doesn't look good. Sometimes it disappears and
sometimes it gets wrong size.
The value entered under the crop-tab in word isn't the same that is
shown in openoffice. Things work
