I have 2 machines running Jaunty and I don't plan to update them to
Karmic anytime soon. Could somebody be nice enough (evince?) to create a
PPA gLabels - as they are so many (KeypassX PPA team, Tomboy PPA Stable,
etc.), on Launchpad for Jaunty, so anyone could update the software.
Thanks. And if I

First, I would like to thank Savvas Radevic for briefly posting his
experimental package of gLabels 2.2.5. I have been using it on Jaunty
since May without any issues. The released version that came with
Jaunty did not run.
Jaunty still has one year left in its support life. If Mr. Chris

I'm not involved with ubuntu nor canonical.
Because it was meant to be experimental, I used the experimental ppa.
I did not have the time to finish testing it for a stable release, due
to my exams so I started prioritising my patches and ppa packages. I
removed it from my ppa because it was just a

Here is what I do not understand: You (Savvas Radevic) created a 2.2.5
package for glabels and I gratefully pulled it from your experimental
ppa back in May 2009. Why was this not placed in the backports release
for Jaunty?

Well if one of you could become sort of independent, learn debian
packaging and help around that would be great. I bet a lot of users
would benefit from your contribution!
1. If you really think this package is worth updating AND that the
updated version is a bugfix only, without new features, then
To most Ubuntu users, the version in the repository is the only version.
The fact that Ubuntu has not kept up with upstream maintenance releases,
reflects badly on Ubuntu, but to the average user it completely trashes
glabels and my reputations, even though the problems have been long
since fixed.
It is usable; you just have to install the latest version of glabels
(not the one in the repos).

I agree that one should not have to install a new OS to get an app to

To say that the fix for an application involves installation of a beta
of the next operating system is unacceptable!
The 2.2.5 upgrade for glabels has been out for months, what is the
reason that glabels for Jaunty has not been updated?

Ryan, read the post before yours. It says it's fixed for ubuntu karmic
