3. Problem description:
I do have many sound problems since pulseaudio first came into Ubuntu. Because
intrepid was very unstable for me, I decided to upgrade to the current dev
version with the hope that many bugs would have been fixed; here audio.

After the gnome-desktop has been started up, I right click on the
volume-symbol and try to choose the volume control setting. After that
the applet crashes. I found out that it crashes because pulseaudio was
terminated with this selection. No crash-report got created, so I tried
to debug pulseaudio manually, which seems not to be possible (See the
attached file).

I do not no why pulseaudio is terminating, but it does every time. A
really dramatic problem with the mixer_applet2 is, when trying to right-
click the preferences menu. After that the x-server freezes and I only
can switch to tty1 where I have to stop gdm and restart it.

I tried to remove all the ~/.pulse* files, rebooting, even tried to

dpkg --force-depends --purge pulseaudio and libpulse0, aptitude -f
installed again, removed the /var/lib/alsa/asound.state file, rebooted.
No luck. No sound.

After Hardy, Intrepid and now Jaunty I can say that I really hate
pulseaudio, because it is not really stable and ready for end-users and
I really can not understand Ubuntu´s decision to include it (but that´s
only my opinion).

Maybe you can do wonders. Thanks so far

Christian
