Aman is right. The rules from an older kernel worked. Never checked the
/dev/ things as the above file fixed the problem. Am now on a much newer
version of Ubuntu but wished to keep this open in case people were still
using older versions of Ubuntu

My c702 works, but only when I choose the multimedia-transfer mode (I don't
know how that is displayed in English, I'm using Polish version), and not the
mass storage mode.
Strangely enough, it allows me to transfer less than 129.3MB at once, because
that is the amount of free space Nautilus alw
Oh, I forgot to add that I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty).

I'm attaching the "60-persistent-storage.rules" files that solves the problem
on my box.
It got renamed to "60-persistent-storage.rules.dkpg.something" after the 8.10
to 9.04 upgrade but now all is fine again.
Placing it into /etc/udev/rules.d/ did the trick for my Sony Ericsson C902.

Udev broke somewhere while updating from 2.6.26 to 2.6.27
Works by replacing the files fromt he older kernel
1. /etc/rules.d/40-permissions.rules
2. /etc/rules.d/60-persistent-storage.rules
