Public bug reported:

When booting with ZTE UMTS modem (USB stick) plugged in, Network monitor
sees the device, but does not configure correctly to allow the device to
be used.

Workaround:

sudo -i
echo "ATZ^M" >/dev/ttyUSB2
echo "AT+CPIN=0000" > /dev/ttyUSB2
echo "AT+CPIN=0000^M" > /dev/ttyUSB2
[/code]

then re-connect via the normal way with network manager applet.
It doesn't work when I try to configure the modem password via the applet.

Using Ubuntu 08.10

Otherwise modem works fine (except must be plugged in at boot to be
recognised).
