On my Asus n20a the audio device works almost perfectly out of the box with 
snd-hda-intel (using the ALC663 codec). However, line in and microphone have 
very low capture gain. Audio does get recorded, but at a very low volume.

I've reported the upstream bug against alsa 1.0.19. The state of the
matter has not changed between jaunty's 1.0.18 and 1.0.19 though.
