Public bug reported: I have all my users into an OpenLDAP directory, which is only accessible through LDAPS. The CA certificate is provided as a NFS export, so that I do not have it to copy to each machine.
This works fine with NFSv3, but not with NFSv4, because the idmapper has to known the users, but before the mount is done LDAP is not accessible. After the mount it is, but it is too late for the idmapper and files are shown as nobody. Each NFSv4 mount that follows does also not known the right users and groups. To work around this I now export the CA certificate with NFSv3. This way the idmapper knows all users and groups at the first NFSv4 mount and all directories and files have the correct users and groups. But I wish to use NFSv4 only. I am using Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1 on both, the server and the client.
