Glipper dies when desktop starting

I can confirm this in Ubuntu 9.10 with glipper version 1.0-1.1ubuntu1.
Glipper causes 100% cpu usage after I add it to gnome-panel. It also causes
gnome-panel to freeze up and sometimes even crash.
After I kill the process, I get a "The panel encountered a problem while
loading OAFIID:Glipper
Ok, more testing on original user account that would hang and panel
disappear..
I added glipper again, when it hung and took 100% of one of my 2 cores,
I let it run
After about 60 seconds the cpu return to normal.
I then had 2 x glipper show up on the panel
I deleted one, logged out and back in

I have tried to re-create this bug setting up a second user with the
panel identical, with same programs running, but cant get it to hang and
panel to vanish.
Attached a tar of the .gconf/apps/panel folder (before adding glipper,
if i do it will hang and vanish when logging back in)
